Access to Justice
Human rights violations against Dalits remain a pressing concern, impeding their freedom and development. Our “Access to Justice” program is designed to combat these issues by providing immediate relief and long-term justice to survivors.
- Monitoring and Follow-up of Human Rights Violations: We employ a robust methodology to monitor incidents of violence and discrimination against Dalit communities. Through primary and secondary resources, we meticulously track violations to ensure swift intervention and accountability. In 2021-22 alone, we monitored 285 incidents, including land grabbing, untouchability practices, physical assault, murder, violence against women and children, mass attacks, custodial torture, rape, kidnap, arson, social boycotts, and restrictions on public pathways.
- Legal Counseling & Intervention:Our Legal Resource Centre (LRC), an initiative of DMKS, plays a critical role in providing comprehensive legal support. We intervene from the initial FIR stage, filing private complaints, seeking fair investigations, ensuring witness protection, and addressing issues like bail cancellation, victim protection, and timely relief and rehabilitation. Our legal experts also assist with criminal revision petitions, pension and employment-related matters, and facilitate access to essential entitlements like TA/DA under the SC/ST Act, as well as filing criminal appeals in Special Courts and the High Court.
