Land Justice
Rajasthan’s feudal history and the poor implementation of the Land Ceiling Act have resulted in vast tracts of agricultural land remaining under the control of powerful landlords and royal families. Additionally, land granted in the name of religious trusts (Mandir Maphi) is often controlled by influential individuals, outside government oversight. This has led to widespread illegal encroachment on Dalit lands, with countless land dispute cases pending in revenue, criminal, and civil courts, forcing many landless Dalit families to migrate.
Recognizing that existing legal provisions for safeguarding Dalit land rights are often poorly implemented, CDR has launched a comprehensive Dalit Land Rights Campaign across the state. This broad-level initiative is crucial for eliminating illegal encroachment and securing legitimate land ownership for Dalits.
